Archives Revealed

The Archives Revealed programme supports the cataloguing of archive collections. It is designed to transform access to archives for a wide range of users, enabling more people to engage with the UK’s rich documentary heritage.

Applications can be made by most organisations that hold an archive collection. Collections must be regularly accessible for public use and research for a minimum period of 10 years after completion of the cataloguing project.

There are three funding strands:

Scoping Grants – up to £3,000 for the production of an expert collections report to support the development of plans for future cataloguing priorities and projects

Cataloguing Grants – up to £50,000 for archives to create catalogues of important archival collections, including funding for activities to promote public engagement with the collection during or after cataloguing

Consortium Grants – up to £150,000 for large-scale consortium projects, bringing together multiple archive, heritage and other organisations to ensure that significant archive collections are made accessible to the public

The programme can supply up to 100% of project costs although applicants are encouraged to make a contribution from their own resources or other funding sources.
