Local charities in North Devon can apply for funding from the John Coates Charitable Trust.
The Trust provides support for:
Education: improving the key skills of children and young adults; outdoor education; support for disabled people.
Arts: encouraging children to access the arts; support for theatres and festivals.
Medicine and healthcare: research; raising awareness and providing information; supporting service-users.
Heritage and the environment: history preservation; protection and/or enhancement of green spaces and coastal areas, rivers and lakes; protection of endangered species, both flora and fauna.
Societal and community cohesion: family services; prisoners’ wellbeing; support for disabled people in community settings; support for those from disadvantaged backgrounds; support for women facing difficult circumstances
North Devon charities that are financially sustainable, have a track record of positive impact and a long-term vision can apply for grants between £5,000 and £10,000.
The Trust is unlikely to support charities that are less than five years old or with an income of less than £150,000. Refer to the Guidelines for Applicants on the website for a full list of exclusions.
Focus of fund/fund aims:
Grants up to £10,000 for registered charities. The Trust only supports charities in specific areas, these include North Devon.
Application deadline:
Applications are considered twice a year.
