Great British Energy is inviting applications for funding for clean energy projects that deliver lasting local benefits. There are currently two separate opportunities:
GBE Community Fund: grants to help community organisations to develop and build community-owned clean energy projects.
Community energy groups can apply for up to £40,000 for feasibility studies, up to £100,000 for project development, or up to £3m for the capital costs of construction-ready projects.
Applications can be made by community organisations set up to run energy projects for local benefit. This can include community benefit societies, community interest companies, co-operative societies, development trusts and registered charities.
GBE Partnerships Grant: funding for local authorities working with a community energy partner to bring forward clean energy projects
Local authorities can apply for up to £40,000 for partnership formation and feasibility, or up to £100,000 for project development.
These grants are for local authorities currently working with a community energy group, or wanting to work with one. County and District Councils, and Unitary and Combined Authorities can apply.
