Local highway authorities are invited to submit a proposal to the new Structures Fund for a grant to support the costs of repairing or replacing structures such as bridges, tunnels, culverts and retaining walls.
The grant provides capital support for projects where local highway authorities or relevant third parties cannot meet the costs of necessary works. It is intended to ensure that structures can be restored or maintained to full functionality, particularly where existing budgets are insufficient.
There is no minimum or maximum value of total construction costs or funding that can be requested from the fund.
Applications are open to local highway authorities in England: each local highway authority can propose one scheme to receive funding.
