Turing Scheme: 2026-27

UK schools, Higher Education (HE) providers and Further Education (FE) providers can apply for funding from the Turing Scheme towards international study or work placements abroad for their students, learners and pupils.

The scheme is now open for applications for placements in the 2026-27 academic year.

For this round, projects funded by the scheme should meet the aims of:

  • enhancing transferable skills for life and careers
  • widening opportunity
  • driving value for money

Turing Scheme funding is a contribution towards the costs of international educational placements. In most cases, it is provided on a per-student basis and can include costs such as travel, living costs, passports and visas, language learning, SEND support and the costs of staff accompanying students on school and FE placements.

The maximum level of grant is not yet known since the budget for the 2026 to 2027 academic year is still to be confirmed.

Organisations from across the education and training sector can apply, including schools, further education (FE) providers, and higher education (HE) providers. Applicants must be responsible for delivering education or training to the student taking part in a placement.

The UK has agreed with the EU that it will join the Erasmus+ programme as an associate country from 2027 and so it is likely that this will be the final year of the Turing Scheme.
