Football Foundation

The Football Foundation provides grants to support community grassroots football as well as major funding for the Premier League. It is a charity working on behalf of a partnership between the Premier League, the FA and the government to improve football facilities across the country.

Funding for grassroots football is awarded through separate schemes for different types of facilities including goalposts, storage containers, portable floodlights, improving or building new changing facilities, creation of new grass pitches, pitch maintenance (3G/ grass/ small-sided artificial) and fencing.

Most of the grants awarded are for up to £25,000 and the grant should not exceed 75% of total project costs.

There are also grants up to £250,000 through the Home Advantage scheme which supports grassroots clubs to take on long-term leases of local authority sites. This scheme is currently closed but will be reopening later in 2025.

The following types of organisations can apply for funding from the Football Foundation to support grassroots football:

  • not-for-profit company
