Trevor and Claire: childminding – the most important career ever
Trevor and his wife Claire set up Kingwood Childcare in Mid Devon seven years ago. They started as childminders with 14 children on the books, numbers grew steadily and so they changed their offer to Childcare on Domestic Premises. Today they run a successful nursery with over 320 children, employing many staff.
Gabi: loving life as a Montessori childminder
Gabi started her childminding business ‘The Little Children’s House’ in the South Hams 3 years ago. Gabi has an Early Childhood Montessori teaching diploma which she uses to provide flexible Montessori childcare to deliver the Early Years Foundation Stage in a child-led environment.
Dan: offering fresh, creative and fun out of school clubs
Daniel and Sarah Baxter are owner-managers of FISH, a childcare setting that provides breakfast, afterschool and holiday clubs for three to twelve-year-olds. Their setting is the largest private out-of-school care provider in Devon, furnishing a wide range of activities for children. From science experiments, cookery, and dodgeball, to den building. No two days are ever the same!
Naomi: Early Years Assistant and room leader
Naomi Trussler is an Early Years Assistant with a Level 2 Qualification. She is currently the room leader for children aged two at a brand-new school campus which caters for children aged between 2 and 16 years.
Bethan: loving her career that fits with life
21-year-old Bethan Hallett is an Early Years Assistant at a pre-school setting located on the same site as a primary school. Her day-to-day role involves caring for pre-school children and looking after 5-11 year olds in before and after-school care.
Amelia: life as an Early Years Teacher
Amelia Joyner is an Early Years Teacher with a Level 6 Qualification. She has been the leader of a pre-school in Devon for just over two years and is also a Specialist Early Years Professional, which involves tracking children who are vulnerable to under achievement.
