Devon County Council are offering free trees to landowners across Devon to help combat climate change, mitigate ash dieback, and support our declining wildlife.


Wraparound childcare funding update

The application process for schools and childcare settings is now live. Briefing sessions are running on 1 and 2 October for providers to understand the various funding support available to parents to support with childcare costs and inclusion. Wraparound briefing sessions for providers are running on 7 and 15 October.


Play training

Fully funded play training available to practitioners who working in the out of school sector. The 3 hour virtual Playtime training will run on 6 November and the Facilitating children’s right to play will run on 9th December (face to face, Exeter).


School admissions process update

The school admissions process for the 2025 primary admissions round has been updated to streamline communication and application procedures. An online Microsoft form is now available for parents and carers to express their interest in applying for a school place. Application window opens on 15th November 2024.

Findings of Ofsted’s Big Listen public consultation

The Big Listen was launched in March. It gave professionals, children and learners, parents, carers, and the public an opportunity to give their feedback across 4 areas: Ofsted’s culture, inspection practice, reporting and the impact of inspection. Ofsted has now published the response to the Big Listen, setting out the actions they will take to address what they have heard.
