The Public Health team at Devon County Council are committed to supporting individuals and families affected by alcohol and other drug use. We aim to reduce alcohol and drug related harm and improve individual and community health and wellbeing. In order to achieve our aim, it’s necessary that we collect insights from members of the public who wish to participate in our survey.
Please be aware, if you’ve given consent to share your contact information to support our survey, we’ll store it for up to 2 years. The purpose of storing your contact information on our records is so we can contact you to better understand your view. Your insight will support us to ensure we commission and deliver Public Health Services which are as inclusive and effective as possible.

DCC may need to collect or otherwise process your personal data so that we can:
- determine whether the survey response is representative of Devon’s population
- identify any differences within survey responses between different groups in the population
- identify different ways to commission and deliver Drug and Alcohol Public Health Services

Where we are collecting personal data about you for the provision of one of the purposes outlined in this privacy notice, we rely upon your consent:
- Article 6(1)(a) – consent, as stated in UK general Data Protection Regulations (UK GDPR).
Personal data that is collected for any of the purposes outlined in this notice is never used for direct marketing purposes and is not sold on to any other third parties.
Recipients or categories of recipients that we may share your personal data with
If we feel that it is necessary to share your personal data with professionals to ensure you or someone you work with is safeguarded from harm, we rely upon the provisions of the Safeguarding Vulnerable Groups Act 2006 and Children Act 1989 & 2004.
We may also need to share some personal data about you, so that we can support third party organisations to discharge their regulatory requirements. This includes organisations such as;
- the data protection regulator (the Information Commissioner’s Office)
- the Care Quality Commission

Devon County Council will retain your personal data for 2 years.
