Children’s Social Care and Young People’s Futures

A normal service will be operating up to 5.00 pm on Tuesday 24 December and reopening at 9.00 am on Tuesday 31 December.

Between these dates, offices will be closed.

A telephone-only service (0345 155 1071) for child safeguarding concerns will be in place between 9.00 am and 5.00 pm on Friday 27 and Monday 30 December.

Notices on the front doors of premises normally open to the public will also give details of the number to ring.

Integrated Adult Social Care – Care Direct

Call 0345 155 1007.

Care Direct is the first point of contact for all social care calls, providing information and advice.

Please refer to the opening hours of the Customer Service Centre.

If you need a more detailed assessment of your needs, Care Direct will note the relevant information and transfer the call to a member of the Care Direct Plus Team.

Emergency Duty Service (EDS)

Call 0345 600 0388 (low-call rate).

Devon’s EDS responds to emergency situations that arise outside of normal social care office hours and is on duty on public holidays, evenings and weekends.

EDS responds to emergency social care situations in which a vulnerable adult or child is at risk of significant harm and cannot wait until the next working day for an assessment of the risk and possible provision of services.

County Hall reception

County Hall, Topsham Road, Exeter.

County Hall is currently closed and any visits are by appointment only.

Community Mental Health Services

Mental health services are provided by Devon Partnership NHS Trust.

With the exception of inpatient wards and crisis resolution teams, the majority of services will be closed on Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day.
