The Learning Disability Partnership Board met on June 16th 2025 to mark the start of national Learning Disability Week.
Part one:
There was a presentation by a Disability Lead and Reaching for Independence Manager on TECS. TECS is short for Technology Enabled Care and Support. The council officers answered a series of questions on how TECS could be used to support someone to develop new skills or to keep their independence. Questions covered apps in different languages, choosing the right app and the safety of downloading from the internet.
Part two:
There was a presentation from the DIVAS. DIVAS are women with learning disabilities and/or autism who have survived domestic abuse or sexual violence. One of the DIVAS shared her story and we heard an update on future funding for a similar project to be run in Devon.
AOB (Any other business):
There was an update from DPT on the opening of the new Brook unit. Board members were offered the opportunity to visit the site before it takes its first patients at the end of July.
