Fund description:

The National Churches Trust provides grants for church buildings across the UK. Applications are accepted for works to church buildings which are open (or plan to re-open) for regular Christian worship.

The NCT has revised its grants programmes in line with its new 2019-2023 strategy and now offers:

Cornerstone Grants – between £10,000 and £50,000 towards the cost of urgent structural repair projects costed at more than £100,000 including VAT. The Trust will also consider projects that introduce kitchens and accessible toilets to enable increased community use, costed at more than £30,000 including VAT.

Community Grants – grants of £5,000 to £25,000 for installing essential facilities (kitchens and toilets) to enable increased community use of places of worship

Partnership Grants – from £2,500 to £10,000 for urgent repair projects

Repair Grants – between £5,000 and £40,000 towards the costs of urgent and essential structural repairs costing over £100,000

Maintenance Grants – awards of between £1,000 and £2,500 to encourage listed churches to undertake small but vital maintenance tasks

Project Development Grants – a pilot grant programme offering awards up to £10,000 to support the development of major projects, for example through feasibility studies or additional structural reports

Grants can cover up to 50% of costs – match funding must be found from other sources.
