Expressions of Interest are now open for funding from the Heritage at Risk Capital Fund. The fund is run by Historic England to support the repair and conservation of historic buildings and sites at risk across England.
Heritage at Risk grants are available for the conservation, repair and conversion of listed buildings of all grades, historic buildings in conservation areas, registered parks and gardens and scheduled monuments. The priorities of the fund are to:
- help more people to connect with, enjoy and benefit from the historic environment
- use heritage to improve civic pride, prosperity, and wellbeing
- achieve a positive change and sustainable future for historic places, including buildings, landscapes, archaeological sites, and marine assets
- ensure heritage plays an important role in the fight to limit and manage the effects of climate change
Grants can be up to £1m and can be used for capital works, including repair and preservation. Other works, such as minor repairs, maintenance and alterations are not eligible except in certain circumstances.
Organisations or individuals with legal responsibility for the property can apply. Projects must have strong benefits for the community and priority will be given to projects in areas with the highest level of deprivation and need for investment. Private dwellings, places of worship and commercial buildings are only considered in exceptional circumstances.
