Veolia Environmental Trust: Habitat & Biodiversity Grants

The Veolia Environmental Trust’s Habitat and Biodiversity Grant Scheme is for the improvement or creation of natural habitats on sites located within 10 miles of an eligible landfill site. The funding is part of the Landfill Communities Fund.

Grants are available for projects that:

  • protect and enhance biodiversity and natural habitats
  • inspire the creation of a sustainable carbon neutral space
  • promote community action and wellbeing
  • are inclusive and accessible to everyone and anyone to use

Projects should relate to a single site such as a woodland, nature reserve or waterway.

Applications can be made by charitable not-for-profit organisations, Environmental Bodies (EBs) registered with Entrust, and local authorities.

Grants are made for amounts between £10,000 and £75,000; registered charities, EBs and local authorities can request a grant of over £75,000.

Further eligibility criteria apply including the requirement for a Contributing Third Party payment of 10% of the grant amount. Refer to the Veolia website for the full grant funding criteria and to the Entrust website to check if your site is in an eligible location.

Note that the Veolia Environmental Trust also provides Community Grants for improvements to indoor and outdoor community spaces but Devon Funding News has not identified locations in Devon that are currently eligible for these.
