Clothworkers’ Foundation

The Clothworkers’ Foundation makes grants through its Open Programme for capital projects such as buildings, equipment, vehicles and digital infrastructure such as websites, databases and apps.

You can apply to the Clothworkers’ Foundation if you are a registered charity, CIO, CIC, exempt charity or special school.

Projects should fit with one or more of the Foundation’s programme areas:

  • communities experiencing racial inequalities
  • disabilities (including mental health and visual impairment)
  • domestic and sexual abuse
  • economic disadvantage
  • homelessness
  • LGBT+ communities
  • older people facing disadvantage
  • prison and rehabilitation
  • substance misuse and addiction
  • young people facing disadvantage

At least 50% of service users benefiting from the capital project should be from one or more of these groups.

Grants are made to large and small projects. Applicants are asked not to request a specific amount from the Clothworkers’ Foundation: projects over £100,000 may receive around 10% of the balance to be raised; smaller projects of £15,000 or less may receive all, or a significant amount, of the remaining balance.
