There are new opportunities this autumn to apply for funding through the Farming Innovation Programme (FIP). The FIP provides investment in innovation, research and development to benefit farmers, growers and foresters in England. Defra awards FIP funding through a series of competitions, in partnership with UK Research & Innovation (UKRI).
There are three upcoming FIP competitions:
- Feasibility Studies: to check if a research idea works in practice.
- Small Research & Development Partnerships: funding to develop new farming products or services that improve farming methods, increase productivity and help the environment.
(Feasibility Studies and R&D Partnerships need to be led by a UK-registered business working in collaboration with other businesses and research organisations).
- ADOPT: for collaborative farmer-led, on-farm trials or experiments to generate, test and demonstrate innovative solutions to farming challenges. This includes a Facilitator Support Grant and a full ADOPT grant.
You can find out more about the FIP competitions, including grant sizes and deadlines on the Farming Innovation Programme website.
