Registered charities and local authorities can apply for capital grants for buildings and equipment from the Wolfson Foundation which provides support for places as part of its main grants programme.
Grants are available for the following types of organisation:
- Charities working with disability or mental health – with a particular focus on training, employment and supported housing
- Charities working with older people – particularly if they have a neurodegenerative condition or are isolated
- Historic buildings and landscapes – for conservation and restoration work, interpretation, and education spaces
- Hospices and palliative care organisations – for new buildings, refurbishment work or equipment
- Places of worship – for restoration and conservation work
- Libraries and archives – to improve access to facilities and spaces for nationally-significant collections
- Museums and galleries – to improve the display and interpretation of nationally-significant collections
- Performing arts organisations – for training & education facilities
- Public engagement with science organisations – for galleries and spaces displaying scientific or natural history collections of national significance
- Secondary schools and sixth form colleges – to improve the teaching at GCSE and A-Level of subjects that need specialist spaces and equipment
- Special needs schools and colleges – for projects which support pupils at secondary level to develop skills which would help them to gain employment or live independently after school or college
- Universities and research institutions – for new buildings, refurbishment work and major equipment to enable high-quality research
Grants for most of these are between £15,000 and £100,000 but you should check the details for the scheme that is relevant to your organisation.
For most of the schemes, your organisation will need to be a registered charity or local authority.
