Frequently Asked Questions – Extended Entitlement
-
How do parents know when the extended entitlement eligibility is due to be reconfirmed?
HMRC will send electronic reminders to parents when it is time to reconfirm eligibility. Parents choose the type of electronic communication that will be used. Parents should check their secure messages in their HMRC Gateway Account as messages will be posted there.
-
Parents are having trouble reconfirming the extended entitlement eligibility codes. What should they do?
Parents will need to contact HMRC direct on 0300 123 4097. Please advise parents not to leave this too close to the end of the grace period in case the issue cannot be quickly resolved.
Devon County Council are unable to help with eligibility confirmation queries as we do not have access to the data.
-
Can a parent stretch the extended entitlement early years funding across a year with one provider and use a term time only offer with another?
Yes, as long as parents do not use more than 30 hours in any one week, 10 hours in any one day and 1140 in total across the year (pro rata if child becomes eligible part way through a year).
-
If the provider is open for less than 38 weeks in a year can they still provide funded sessions?
Yes as long as providers make it clear to parents that they may not be able to access their full entitlement at the provision.
-
I have a child attending that does not live in Devon. Can they access the funding?
Devon County Council has agreed with neighbouring Local Authorities (Cornwall, Plymouth, Torbay, Dorset, Somerset) that each Local Authority will fund providers for the universal and extended entitlement within their authority area. This means that a Devon child attending provision in Dorset will be funded by Dorset County Council and vice versa. Due to the different funding rates all neighbouring Local Authorities have agreed not to transfer funding between them. This agreement does not extend to Pupil Premium funding.
