Highway Maintenance Community Enhancement Fund (HMCEF) overview 2021/22

We received a total of 50 bids in 2021/22 for HMCEF and approved 40 of those.  We provided over £26,000.00 of funding to enable projects valuing over £107,000.00 to be undertaken in the community.

Public Realm Fund overview 2021/22

To provide further support to our local communities an additional £100,000.00 fund, for Town and Parish Councils, was available in 2021/22. The fund was for projects/works that would enhance the public realm, which includes the repair and refurbishment of highway street furniture, such as lighting columns, finger posts, seats, and bollards. This funding was in addition to our existing Highway Maintenance Community Enhancement Fund which was available to support highway maintenance works and projects.

We received a total of 20 bids and approved 17 of those (see table below). We provided over £40,000 of funding to enable projects valuing over £83,000 to be undertaken in the community.

Strete Parish Council were awarded funding towards the clearance of vegetation and cleaning of roadside drains along the A379. Read more >

Thorverton and Brampford Speke Community Access Group (TABSCAP) were award funding for Remedial works returning a highway (Hulk Lane Thorverton). This was lost to public use after a major landslip in the form of a Bridleway. Read more >

Parish Lengthsman

Highway Self Help scheme gives town and parish councils and community self-help groups the opportunity to do small maintenance tasks. Read more >

Littlehempston Parish Council were awarded £1000 for snow and ice clearance during the winter period. The parish purchased a snow hopper attachment for a tractor to enable the parish to be gritted prior to and during snow fall.
