Older People Steering Group meeting – 25th July 2024 


Meeting Summary

PinPoint and Care Direct Updates 

  • No clear update has been received regarding the replacement for PinPoint. 
  • A previous report was escalated, and a mystery shopping exercise was conducted with feedback being acted upon. 
  • The findings were presented to the scrutiny committee, and changes are underway. 
  • A second mystery shopping exercise is planned to assess improvements in the Care Direct Plus service. 
  • Reports and case studies have prompted discussions at commissioning team meetings and are being escalated further. 

Community Engagement 

  • Efforts are underway to engage with LGBT and ethnically diverse communities regarding adult social care. 
  • It was acknowledged that data collection from these groups is limited, and the topics can be sensitive, especially for older individuals. 
  • There is an opportunity for tailored engagement with older people, and quarterly reports are helping to highlight their experiences. 

Organisational Collaboration 

  • Regular reminders about the role of Age UK Devon in supporting older people were noted. 
  • DCC services are a standing item on internal team meeting agendas. 
  • Quarterly reports will be discussed at the upcoming Joint Engagement Forum in August. 

Actions 

  • Replacement PinPoint update was followed up and the response shared. 
  •  Clarification is being sought regarding changes resulting from the escalated reports. 
  •  Future meetings have been scheduled to occur one week before each Joint Engagement Forum.
