Fair means everyone
has a chance at a good life
Did you know that Devon is a Fairtrade County?
Devon was first awarded Fairtrade County status in 2008 and has successfully renewed its status ever since. We are committed to supporting fair and ethical trade and promoting the principles and values of Fairtrade.
Choosing Fairtrade products can help farmers and workers in lower-income countries receive fair prices for their produce, improve working conditions and invest in their communities. Working with Fairtrade Devon and Devon Development Education, we encourage people across Devon to consider the social and environmental impact of the products they buy.
Fairtrade in Devon
Fairtrade is supported by communities, schools, businesses and volunteers across Devon. Together, they help raise awareness of fair and ethical trade, promote Fairtrade products and encourage people to make informed purchasing choices that support farmers and workers around the world.

Our Fairtrade priorities
We are committed to:
- promoting the principles and values of Fairtrade across Devon
- helping people understand what Fairtrade does and why it is important
- supporting Devon’s network of Fairtrade towns and volunteers
- encouraging the use of Fairtrade products across our organisation and communities.
What we do
To support our Fairtrade prioritise, we:
- provide Fairtrade drinks at Council meetings and sell Fairtrade products in our café
- include Fairtrade in relevant procurement contracts
- promote Fairtrade to staff, councillors and residents
- work with partners to raise awareness of fair and ethical trade.
Fairtrade Fortnight
Fairtrade Fortnight is the Fairtrade Foundation’s annual awareness campaign. It celebrates the people behind the products we buy and highlights how Fairtrade helps farmers and workers build sustainable livelihoods and strengthen their communities.
Each September, Devon supports Fairtrade Fortnight by promoting campaign activities and encouraging staff, councillors and residents to learn more about Fairtrade and the impact of their purchasing choices.
Find out about the latest Fairtrade Fortnight campaign and how to get involved on the Fairtrade Foundation website.
