People in North Devon are being encouraged to have their say on what they think North Devon Council should be focusing on.

Following council elections in May this year, the new council has drafted a new corporate plan which is based on four priorities and it wants to know whether the public agree.

The priorities are:

  • protecting and cherishing our natural environment, including reducing carbon emissions across North Devon
  • financial security in the wake of government budget cuts – looking for innovative ways to save money and draw in more income without hitting the council tax payer’s pocket
  • providing the best service to our customers – looking at all of our services from a customer’s perspective and improving our digital services
  • creating a better future for North Devon by working together with our partners to create a vibrant economy for future generations

The council has launched an onlineĀ public consultation where people can read the plan, look at the priorities and tell the council what they think.

Leader of the Council Cllr David Worden says: “We are here to represent the people of North Devon and so it’s important that what we do in the future is what they want us to do. I’d encourage as many people as possible to have their say so that we can be confident that we are basing our future services and activities on what the people of North Devon want.”

The survey is available at www.northdevon.gov.uk/consultation and is open until the 15 September.

We need to make the roads safer. 20 mph zones and shared spaces. Cycle path priority over cars and better bus and rail links
