It’s Flood Action Week next week – are you prepared?

Graphic reads: Around 4.6 million properties are in areas at risk of surface water flooding in England. It points to information available on the government's website about surface water flooding.

We are supporting and empowering communities across the county by raising awareness of flood risk, and promoting practical steps that will help residents feel more confident and prepared for flooding.

As climate change continues to bring more frequent and intense rainfall, flooding remains a serious threat to people, property, and livelihoods across England.

Around 6.3 million homes and businesses are in areas vulnerable to flooding, and many don’t even realise.

With heightened awareness, the correct knowledge, and preparation, we can build a county that is better equipped to face these challenges and reduce the impact of future floods.

That is why we are encouraging everyone to take part in Flood Action Week and stay flood aware – not just this week, but for the long term.

Simple Actions You Can Take This Week

Throughout the week, we will be sharing key tips, information and resources on our social media channels and through the Devon Resilience Innovation Project (DRIP) platforms and website.

Follow along and get involved:

Let’s make Devon a place where every household is flood aware and every community flood ready!
