The next heritage walk being held as part of the Restoring Stover Park project will be an evening walk later this month to make the most of the summer nights.

Taking place from 6pm-9pm on Wednesday 18 June, this walk will follow a section of the Granite Tramway from Haytor via old quarrying sites, which have been reclaimed by nature, and then navigate towards ruins of a Bronze Age settlement.

Booking includes a guided walk led by qualified guide ‘Dartmoor’s Daughter’ (Emma Cunis) and stew for dinner at a stopping point on the walk. Assistance with travel from Stover Country Park to Haytor and return can be made available if requested, otherwise ticket holders can meet at Haytor Visitor Centre.

This latest event is the third in a series of six heritage walks which will continue throughout this year. The walks connect Dartmoor with Stover Country Park and follow sections of the Templer Way route, which links Haytor on Dartmoor with the sea port of Teignmouth.

Walks will use a tiered ticket pricing system, to encourage and enable people from all walks of life to attend.

Thanks to the National Lottery Heritage Fund, tickets are available for people living locally to Stover Country Park. There will be a limited number of free bursary spaces available for individuals living on a low income and tickets priced at £10 or £20. Clothing and equipment, such as waterproof jackets and over-trousers, can also be loaned to take part in the walk.

For further information and to access bursary spaces please contact the Restoring Stover Team by emailing: restoringstoverpark@devon.gov.uk
