As part of our commitment to support care leavers across Devon we offer our Step Forward employability programme.<\/p>\n
Step Forward supports care experienced young people between 16 and 25 to learn new skills and take steps towards employment, education and training that fits with their interests and aspirations.<\/p>\n
The programme has been created to allow us to be flexible and adapt to the needs of care leavers. We understand everyone\u2019s journey is different, so tailored programmes are offered to suit every individual worked with.<\/p>\n
Kane, a previous participant in this programme, achieved a role within DCC as a Virtual Schools Apprentice.<\/p>\n
\u201cGrowing up in care was difficult at times, with people not always believing in me. I left school and tried to get an apprenticeship, but no one would even consider me as I didn\u2019t have the best qualifications and I was in the care system.<\/p>\n
My Personal Advisor told me about an employability programme and helped me get in touch with them. Step Forward listened, helped me to update my CV and updated me when jobs were advertised so that I could apply.<\/p>\n
