Passionate about improving children's life chances? Join us to ensure that every Devon child, no matter where they live, receives the same high-quality service.

You might think that you have to do a social work degree and masters programme to become a social worker but for many the entry route into social work is through other roles in children’s services.

While there are no specific qualifications required to become a family practitioner they are tenacious, resilient and have a passion for getting the best outcomes for our young people.

Our family practitioners work directly with children, young people and families, carrying out frequent home and community visits to families who have come to the attention of social work teams.

Each year, we support a small number of current employees to undertake the social work degree via the Open University and are actively engaging with national providers to identify opportunities to offer social work apprenticeships as they become available.
