The Care Quality Commission (CQC) is the independent regulator of health and adult social care in England.

Our role:

We monitor, inspect and regulate services to make sure they meet fundamental standards of quality and safety and we publish what we find, including performance ratings to help people choose care.

Our Framework:

  • The five key questions – is a service safe, effective, caring, responsive to people’s needs and well-led?
  • The ratings – we will rate services. These ratings will help people to compare services and to highlight where care is outstanding, good, requires improvement or inadequate
