{"id":26940,"date":"2024-09-23T15:14:29","date_gmt":"2024-09-23T14:14:29","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.devon.gov.uk\/support-schools-settings-new\/?p=26940"},"modified":"2024-12-10T11:02:48","modified_gmt":"2024-12-10T11:02:48","slug":"administration-140-unit-4-update-from-the-future-finance-project-team-september-2024","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.devon.gov.uk\/support-schools-settings\/administration-140-unit-4-update-from-the-future-finance-project-team-september-2024\/","title":{"rendered":"Administration 140: Unit 4 Update from the Future Finance Project Team &#8211; September 2024"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>Future Finance Project Update September 2024<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Welcome to our September update.&nbsp; To recap, the Future Finance Project is replacing Devon County Council\u2019s FINEST financial system, which is nearly 30 years old and certainly showing its age!&nbsp; Unit 4 is the chosen authority-proven integrated financial system that we will be moving to.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In our last update, we mentioned that we had come out of the design phase and were entering testing phases.&nbsp; This identified some areas of the project requiring more time to complete successfully, leading to a rescheduling of the go-live date for Unit 4.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We are now targeting an <strong>earliest go-live date of November 2024<\/strong>. This will require the successful and timely completion of a number of critical tasks.&nbsp; These include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Finalisation of the old codes to new code mapping<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Data migration of some 7 million transactions for testing<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Testing of each service\u2019s business system integration with the Interface Hub<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Successful completion of User Acceptance Testing<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Finalisation of training materials and user training<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Final cutover data migration<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>The good news is the code mapping and testing data migration steps have been successfully completed. &nbsp;This has allowed us to re-start our user testing in parallel with the continuing the work on the Interface Hub.&nbsp; Preparation of training materials is also in progress with some courses already set up for future users.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Of course, there may be other challenges ahead which we will continue to work together to resolve!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As shared previously, the plan for Schools is to make this as seamless as possible by managing the new account coding structure via the Interface Hub (see system overview below).&nbsp; <strong>Schools<\/strong> <strong>work processes are still planned to remain the same and we have taken the opportunity to improve schools\u2019 access to some reports.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You will now be able to <strong>access both the Trail Balance and Payroll reports via the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.devon.gov.uk\/support-schools-settings\/administration-and-finance\/finance\/maintained-school-data\/\">Power BI link<\/a> at any time of the month<\/strong> and use the Trial Balance to review any differences.&nbsp; Please see the <a href=\"https:\/\/devoncc.sharepoint.com\/:b:\/s\/PublicDocs\/Education\/ERx0VQW7Vp1Dr85JcJzx-h0BnZogLKhf92_1jz8xemjKWg?e=DDBk4y\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Quick Card<\/strong><\/a> for how to do this and we encourage everyone to have a go.
