{"id":6043,"date":"2022-04-27T16:08:08","date_gmt":"2022-04-27T15:08:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/beta.devon.gov.uk\/supportforschools\/services-and-contacts\/education-pyschology\/education-psychology-service\/solution-circles\/"},"modified":"2024-12-10T12:05:03","modified_gmt":"2024-12-10T12:05:03","slug":"solution-circles","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.devon.gov.uk\/support-schools-settings\/send\/educational-psychology\/ep-services-support\/solution-circles\/","title":{"rendered":"Solution circles"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Solution circles &#8211; A quick creative problem solving tool for getting unstuck<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Who does it involve:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>A supportive group of problem solvers (6-8 people), who are committed to assisting the \u2018Problem Presenter\u2019 find solutions.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A \u2018Problem Presenter\u2019 who has a problem to which they are seeking solutions.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>One member of the group who visually records a summary of the discussion (the \u2018Graphic recorder\u2019).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>An Educational Psychologist who leads the group through the process (the \u2018Process facilitator\u2019).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Time needed:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>30 minutes. Those who attend will need to commit to staying for the full 30 minutes until the process is completed.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>The process:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Solution Circles follow a structured six stage process, with each stage having a time allocation in order for the whole process to be complete in 30 minutes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The \u2018Problem Presenter\u2019 begins by outlining the problem, whilst the group listens.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The group are then invited to ask clarification questions.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Next the group are invited to generate and pose a range of solutions to the \u2018Problem Presenter\u2019 who must not respond!<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Then there is the opportunity for a group discussion, to explore and clarify with the \u2018Problem Presenter\u2019, which solutions brainstormed might be helpful and to discuss these further.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The process then concludes with The First Step where the \u2018Problem Presenter\u2019 and the group decide on the first steps that are achievable within the next 3 days. It is crucial that at least one step is initiated within 24 hours.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>To finish, the group are asked for their final rounds of words to describe their experience.
