All schools and settings in Devon can access advice from a range of sources, to help them deliver inclusive practice that meets the needs of all children and young people.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Ordinarily Available Inclusive Provision (OAIP) describes the inclusive provision and practice that all Devon schools, early years, and post 16 settings should be able to provide for all children and young people, including those with SEND.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Our Ordinarily Available Inclusive Provision (OAIP)<\/a> guidance gives examples of considerations and adjustments that can be made to provision in 10 different areas, including attendance and belonging, teaching and learning and transition. <\/p>\n\n\n\n All maintained schools and academies in Devon have a named Inclusion Partner (IP).<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n Inclusion Partners work alongside school leaders, SENCOs and staff to help strengthen inclusive practice, improve attendance, reduce exclusions, and support children and young people with SEND and other vulnerabilities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Each IP is part of a wider network of education, SEND, attendance, health, social care and family support services, providing schools with a dedicated link to local support.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Through advice, consultation, challenge and multi-agency working, Inclusion Partners help schools to:<\/p>\n\n\n\n Their aim is to help every child access education, participate fully in school life and their community, and achieve positive outcomes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Schools can expect a termly visit from their Inclusion Partner.<\/p>\n\n\n\n An Early Years Quality and Inclusion Partner (EYQIP)<\/strong> is assigned to each EY setting, including those run by schools.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The EYQIPs run three online Senco Forums per term, offered at different times of day. New to SENCo training is held termly and a New to SENCo teams call as and when needed for an individual.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Targeted Support Meetings (TSMs) are collaborative meetings between schools and the Local Authority designed to support attendance, inclusion and a sense of belonging for all pupils. They will be facilitated by the school\u2019s Inclusion Partner. They provide an opportunity to review attendance trends, discuss the effectiveness of the school’s OAIP Attendance and Belonging offer, and identify actions that will strengthen attendance across the school. The meetings also provide a space to discuss individual children whose attendance remains a concern, where barriers are complex, or where additional advice, support or multi-agency involvement may be beneficial.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The frequency of meetings will be reviewed regularly to ensure the level of support is proportionate to each school’s needs and aligned with national attendance guidance. Schools with stronger attendance outcomes will participate in an annual TSM. Termly TSMs will be held for schools where attendance outcomes indicate the need for more frequent review and support. <\/p>\n\n\n\n In addition to their termly meetings with an Inclusion Partner, schools can also book onto our regular Inclusion Consultation sessions, which take place twice a week.<\/p>\n\n\n\n These multi-professional, solution-focused consultations bring together Inclusion Partners, Educational Psychologists and other relevant professionals to provide advice and support.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The 30-minute Microsoft Teams consultations offer an opportunity to discuss any questions or concerns relating to SEND and inclusion within your school. They provide practical advice, support and signposting to appropriate services and resources.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Discussions may focus on developing and strengthening inclusive practice across your school, or on the needs of an individual pupil where parental consent has been obtained.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Schools are encouraged to book a consultation to discuss:<\/p>\n\n\n\n Find out more, including how to book<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n Find out more about Early Years Inclusion Consultations, including how to book<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n Each locality area offers free, termly inclusion network meetings where schools can meet with other local schools, professionals and practitioners to share information, ideas and best practice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n We also run a range of conferences throughout the year, including several that focus on supporting inclusion in schools.<\/p>\n\n\n\n These free, termly network meetings provide an opportunity to join a supportive network with colleagues and other professionals from across your locality area. Discussions cover inclusion and SEND priorities, sharing of good practice and problem solving common challenges collaboratively. Any national and local updates are also provided.<\/p>\n\n\n\n These events are suitable for colleagues from all schools: primary, secondary, special, independent, maintained and academy, as well as those from alternative provision.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Meetings are face-to-face, held termly in every locality 9 am to 12 pm.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Details of the meetings in your locality can be found on the Devon Education services website. <\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n The Devon Attendance Network provides a half termly opportunity for the attendance people of Devon to be together, share practice and learn. These include topics such as attendance, safeguarding, and SEND. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Keep an eye on Devon Education Services conferences and events page to find out what’s coming up.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n Relational practice describes ways of working that position relationships at the heart of the school experience, for all.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Relational practice seeks to explore the sorts of behaviours and skills that support school communities to feel safe, connected, understood and cared for, through their way of being together.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Relational practice information and resources<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n Support is available to schools to develop and embed relational practice through locality based relational practice networks<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n These networks will offer a wide range of tailored support for school relational practice leads.
