We asked the children and young people that we support, what advice would you give your younger self?<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Read below the wisdom they shared with us:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201c<\/em>I used to be really nervous about meeting new people, as I thought they wouldn\u2019t be nice and wouldn\u2019t help me. But now I\u2019m older I\u2019ve learnt that people do want to help and make a difference. And this is really important, as it is nice to know that people do try to understand what it is like to be visually impaired. You can feel the impact they make, making things easier for you.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cEven though it\u2019s hard at the start you will gain confidence. No matter what obstacles come about, you will get over them.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n “Make the most of being young as it doesn\u2019t last forever! Your personality is what\u2019s important and not your appearance.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cIf you think your glasses don\u2019t fit or are not the right prescription \u2013 tell someone! Don\u2019t assume that they are how they are meant to be. They will check them and make sure you have the fit or lenses.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cTry and be happy with who you are because there are people that truly care about you and they will like you for you are.
