Early Years Profile 2023 – Important Dates

Friday 30 June 2023 The EYFS profile must be completed for each child and submitted to the LA no later than Friday 30 June.
31 July 2023 Deadline for LAs to return data to DfE.

KS1 and Phonics 2023 – Important Dates

These dates maybe subject to change.

By the end of March Phonics screening check administration guidance published.
Tuesday 25 April Deadline to order braille versions of the phonics screening check from the national curriculum assessments helpline on 0300 303 3013.
15 May to 19 May Schools receive phonics screening check materials.
Friday 12 May Schools informed by the LA on, or after, this date if they are going to be part of the sample for external moderation of TA.
Monday 1 June KS1 headteacher’s declaration form (HDF), phonics screening check materials and phonics HDF available on the Primary Assessment Gateway.
Monday 12 June to Friday 16 June Schools administer the phonics screening check.
Monday 19 June to Friday 23 June Schools can administer the phonics screening check to any pupils who were absent during the week beginning 12 June.
5 June to 27 June LAs undertake external moderation of KS1 TA.
Monday 26 June Phonics screening check materials and threshold mark published on GOV.UK.
Thursday 27 June Deadline for schools to submit KS1 TA data to their geographical LAs
Friday 30 June Deadline for schools to submit KS1 HDF on the PAG
Monday 3 July Deadline for schools to submit phonics screening check HDF on the PAG
By the end of the summer term Schools must submit their phonics screening check results to their geographical LA by the deadline specified by the LA. 27 June
Friday 21 July Deadline for LAs to submit phonics screening check and KS1 TA data to DfE.

KS2 and Multiplication Tables Check (MTC) 2023 – Important Dates

These dates maybe subject to change.

DATE ACTIVITY
Monday 13 February Forms available on the Primary Assessment Gateway for schools to:

  • register pupils
  • apply for early opening
  • apply for timetable variations
Friday 10 March Deadline for schools to:

  • complete pupil registration
  • submit applications for early opening
Monday 13 March KS2 test administration guidance published.
Monday 10 April Schools notified of outcomes of early opening applications on the Primary Assessment Gateway.
Monday 17 April Schools can access the MTC service via DfE Sign-in and MTC guidance published
Monday 24 April to Friday 28 April Schools receive all KS2 test materials and stationery items.
Monday 9 May to Thursday 12 May Schools administer the KS2 tests.
Thursday 11 May

Pupil cheating form available on the Primary Assessment Gateway.

KS2 head teacher’s declaration form (HDF) available to schools on the Primary Assessment Gateway from 5pm.

Friday 12 May Schools informed by the LA on, or after, this date if they are going to be part of the sample for external moderation of TA.
Monday 15 May ‘Submit teacher assessment’ form available on the Primary Assessment Gateway.
Friday 26 May Deadline for schools to notify STA of a pupil cheating in an end of KS2 test.
Monday 5 June MTC HDF available to schools on the MTC service
Monday 5 June to Friday 16 June MTC administration period
Monday 5 June to Tuesday 27 June LAs undertake external moderation of KS2 English writing TA
Monday 19 June to Friday 23 June Schools administer the MTC to any absent pupils or where administration has been delayed due to technical difficulties
Friday 23 June Deadline for schools to ensure pupils have completed the MTC or have been recorded as not taking the check and submit their MTC HDF on the MTC service by 5pm
Monday 26 June MTC results available on the MTC service
Tuesday 30 June Deadline to submit KS2 TA data on the PAG
Tuesday 11 July KS2 test results and marked script images available on the PAG. Raw score to scaled score conversion tables available on GOV.UK
Friday 21 July Deadline for schools to submit marking review applications by 11:59pm
Wednesday 6 September Review outcomes returned to schools

KS2 Test Timetable for 2023

DATE TEST
Tuesday 9 May English grammar, punctuation and spelling:

  • Paper 1 – questions,
  • Paper 2 – spelling
Wednesday 10 May English reading
Thursday 11 May Mathematics:

  • Paper 1: arithmetic
  • Paper 2: reasoning
Friday 12 May Mathematics Paper 3: reasoning

Schools must submit an application for a timetable variation on the Primary Assessment Gateway (PAG) to seek permission to move a test up to 5 school days after the date specified in the statutory timetable.

Save the Date KS1 and KS2 Moderation Visit Information Sessions

These will be invitation only for those schools receiving a moderation visit in 2023.

These events will be held on Friday 19th May 2023 with one morning session (9:30 – 11:30) and one afternoon session (13:00 – 15:00). Further details will be included within the notification email for schools receiving a moderation visit.

Phonics Screening Check

Phonics Screening Check Briefings are planned for May 2023. They are not currently available but will be in the Devon Education Services online shop nearer to the time.
