Employment Status and IR35 – Change is nearly here

If you employ an individual or a company to come in and complete a task for you ‘off-payroll’, you’ll be affected by HMRC’s tax legislation.

There is less than a week to go until the way that we deal with this topic changes for all DCC maintained schools.

From Monday 18 November, you will need to complete the Devon County Council employment status check instead of the online HMRC tool. If you send us a result from HMRC’s tool after this date it will be automatically rejected so please make sure you are following the new process.

Later this week you will also be emailed a link to the Employment Status Portal so please look out for this. The Employment Status Portal provides news, in-house guidance and more for the topic of ‘off-payroll’ working. You’ll also be able to access the Devon County Council employment status check from here.
