Emotional logic is based around a growing set of resources that have been developed by teachers for teachers. Emotions are all useful as we adjust, even if they don’t feel great. They are not just in the mind: they are chemistry, thoughts, feelings, posture and facial expressions all rolled in together as you prepare for change.
In our training and materials, we explore the seven emotions related to change especially when it involves loss. We call these stepping stones and they are triggered whenever something we value is lost or at risk of being lost. This may be very intense, as in bereavement, or fleeting when experiencing the smallest loss. Even these small losses can trigger a very big loss reaction in a young child or an older person with delayed emotional development. Consequently, this method is effective in helping people to cope better with day to day setbacks and disappointments.
