Flexible staffing and career development for TAs

The current pandemic has shown the need for schools to build flexibility into staffing structures so they can adapt quickly to fundamental changes and still meet pupil needs. Since 2004, HLTAs have been part of the school workforce, giving a more flexible way to cover staff absence and PPA time. In recent months HLTAs have worked with the ‘bubble’ groups and provided additional support to those experiencing heightened anxiety. By gaining the HLTA status, TAs show they meet the highest nationally agreed standards of supporting teaching and learning, providing schools with greater flexibility in their staffing structure and a member of staff who can be both timetabled or quickly deployed to work with an individual pupil, group of pupils or whole class.

We are now recruiting for our next cohorts of the 3 day training programme:

  • Tiverton – 20, 27 November and 28 January
  • Newton Abbott – 5, 12 March & 14 May
