South West Safeguarding Conference – Prepared, Not Scared: Protecting Children in 2018 – Tuesday 26 June 2018
Threats from online dangers (such as CSE, sexting, cyber-bullying and radicalisation) have grown quicker than society has been able to respond. The Government has pledged to make the UK the safest place to be a child online but research shows children are spending an average of 15 hours per week online, overtaking television as the top media pastime for children.
Parents are becoming more concerned about their children sexting than either smoking or drinking. How can schools effectively engage with children and young people about the potential dangers?
Expert keynote speakers Simon Snell, Safeguarding Associates for Excellence, Lorin LaFave and the Breck Foundation will explore how children are being targeted in the digital age. Interactive and focused workshops will underpin the day, providing you with information and strategies to ensure children of all ages are prepared, not scared.
"Weeks run from Monday to Sunday. Please note that weeks without communications to schools are ignored and the links will go to the last week where a communication was made in this category."
