Consultation on Enhanced Redundancy Pay for School Support Staff

Due to the on-going financial pressures facing the County Council including schools, it has become necessary to consider making changes to the enhanced redundancy pay currently provided as detailed in the current redundancy and efficiency leavers’ compensation policy

On 19th February, Full Council agreed the recommendation that the current discretionary element of the redundancy compensation scheme for corporate and schools support staff should be changed, with a consultation process with staff and Trade Unions commencing as soon as possible.

We have been authorised to consult on a potential reduction to the multiple of weeks’ pay used to calculate the enhanced redundancy compensation lump sum payment, which is currently a multiple of twice the number of weeks pay awarded under the statutory redundancy formula.

Any changes which result from the consultation process will not apply to those staff already under-going formal consultation in relation to their current employment.
