Success in GCSE English Exams

Getting the most out of the 2014 exams in GCSE English and English Language.

In 2014, the English and English Language exams will account for 60% of the GCSE – up from the previous 40%. Preparing students for the exam will be more significant than ever before.

Richard Durant:
Richard has worked within a number of schools over the last three years, providing leadership for English and working directly with students. He has worked with all four exam boards’ English specifications and has developed practical and effective ways of keeping students on track and boosting their performance – particularly in exams.

Richard is also a prolific author, and has close connections with Teachit, the English teaching web-site. His most recent publications include Leading Reading and Less Good Writing – practical handbooks to support cross-curricular literacy. He is the author of an ongoing series of articles on teaching and learning for the Optimus Teaching and Learning Hub. The latest article is on progress in lessons. He is also the editor of Smart English for Smart Learning.
