Topsham Road, Exeter – Highway works
What are we doing:
Night work start at the crossing on Topsham Road near the Burnthouse Lane Junction on Monday the 30th November – 21 December.
The work will be carried out as night-time works and one lane will be closed during the week commencing 7th December (expected to be needed for 3 nights). During the day time all lanes will be reopened and temporary lights will be used at the crossing.
We are carrying out carriageway surfacing, traffic signal widening and replacement works as the crossing has reached the end of its serviceable life. Whilst we are there we will be repairing gullies and chambers as required and carrying out other maintenance activities.
When and where are we closing the lanes:
The attached photo shows the location, the lines in red represent the lane closure. The Eastbound closure is expected to occur on the nights of the 6th and the 7th December and the Westbound lane closure on the 8th December. All works will be between 18:30 and 07:00 the next day.
Why do we have to close a lane:
Traffic Management is needed to allow for the carriageway approaches to the crossing, to be resurfaced.
Works will be done at night 18:30pm – 7am under a lane closure in order to minimise the disruption to the public.
How local traffic is being handled:
Temporary lights will be in place at the crossing, as well as at the Burnthouse lane junction during the 3 nights of the carriageway resurfacing and lane closures.
Temporary Pedestrian crossings will also be provided.
