What work is being carried out?

Resurfacing work will take place along a section of Stoke Hill and around Old Tiverton Road roundabout, Exeter. The work is scheduled to commence on Monday 15 July, weather dependent.

What traffic management will be used?

Temporary traffic lights and road closures will be in place while surfacing work takes place. To minimise disruption to traffic all work will be carried out at night and road closures will be in place from 7pm to 7am. The schedule of closures will be as follows:

  • Monday 15 July (3 nights) – Stoke Hill will be closed from Stoke Hill Crescent to Old Tiverton Road roundabout.
  • Thursday 18 July (1 night) – Union Road and Stoke Hill will be closed at the roundabout with traffic control on other roads.
  • Friday 19 July (1 night) – Union Road and Mount Pleasant Road will be closed at the roundabout with traffic control on other roads.

While closures are in place, diversion routes will be signed. Advanced notice signs will be erected at the roundabout 7 days before the work is due to start to advise residents and road users of closure dates.

Why are we doing this work?

This work is part of our annual programme to ensure that roads are maintained in a safe condition.

Why do we have to close the road?

We must ensure the safety of our workforce and the public and in order to comply with our safety guidelines, we are unable to carry out this work without a road closure.

However, we aim to minimise road closures wherever possible in order to reduce the disruption to road users.
