Honiton Road, Exeter (Moor Lane roundabout)
What we are doing
We are carrying out resurfacing work on A3015 Honiton Road/Moor Lane roundabout.
The work will be carried out from 7pm until 6am from Monday 16 March 2020 until Friday 17 April 2020 in a series of night-time closures on weeknights only. There will be no weekend working in order to minimise the disruption to the public.
Please note that the roundabout will be open as normal and no work will be undertaken on Friday 3 April.
We will be repairing utility covers and gullies as required, cleaning the drainage system and carrying out maintenance of the highway signs and verges. New signal loops, road markings and high friction surfacing will be reinstated once the new road surface is completed.
Access to the roundabout
In order to minimise disruption to users, part of the roundabout will be open to traffic at all times. Please refer to the plans below which show the sections of the roundabout that will remain open:
Operational on 16 and 17 March – the plan shows the roundabout is shut at Ambassador Drive and Honiton Road (shown in blue). Access will be possible coming from Honiton Road (Junction 29 of M5) to Moor Lane (shown in green).
Operational on 18 and 19 March – the plan shows the roundabout is shut at Moor Lane (shown in blue). Access will be possible coming from A30/Junction 29 M5 to Honiton Road and Ambassador Drive (shown in green).
Operational on 20 March until the end of the scheme. The plan shows the roundabout is shut at Ambassador Drive and Honiton Road (shown in blue). Access will be possible coming from Honiton Road (A30/Junction 29 of M5) to Moor Lane (shown in green).
The diversion route
The map shows the diversion routes in green with the road closure in blue.
The diversion routes are as follows:
Diversion 1: Moor Lane, Sidmouth Road, A379, A3015 Rydon Lane and vice versa
Diversion 2: A3015, Hill Barton Road, B3181, Cumberland Way, Ambassador Drive and vice versa
Diversion 3: Moor lane, Sidmouth Road, A379, A3015 Rydon Lane, Hill Barton Road, B3181, Cumberland Way, Ambassador Drive and vice versa
Information about the diversion route can also be viewed on the one.network website.
We have reduced the length of the diversion by keeping the roundabout partially open during the construction work (see above).
Traffic from the M5 can access Exeter city using one of the diversion routes, which will be signed. Traffic will be directed through the Moor Lane roundabout as shown in the phased plans (above).
We are obliged to sign diversions that use roads of the same classification to the road that is temporarily closed. Drivers may choose to use local knowledge to identify alternative, and possibly shorter, routes.
Access will always be maintained for emergency vehicles.
