Gold Street, Tiverton – resurfacing

What are we doing?

Resurfacing areas of the road surface will take place along Gold Street and Station Road, Tiverton. We will be carrying out the majority of the works at night to minimise disruption to the town centre.

Work started on Monday 16 September for 10 nights (Monday to Friday). Some work may also need to be carried out on Sunday to ensure we minimise disruption.

However, please note that some of this work is weather dependent so durations may vary.

What traffic management will we use?

A night-time road closure will be in place from 7:00pm to 7:00am for the majority of this work. While the road is closed a signed diversion route will be in place.

Shops and businesses will be open as usual during the day. Pedestrian access will be maintained to those shops and businesses normally open during the evening.

A plan of the closure and diversion route can be found here.

Why are we doing this work?

We have assessed the condition of the existing road surface in line with our asset management principals and have prioritised this section of road for resurfacing. This work is needed to ensure the road is maintained in a safe condition and to maintain the structural integrity of the road.

Why do we have to close the road?

We must ensure the safety of our workforce and the public, and in order to comply with our safety guidelines we are unable to carry out this work without a road closure.

We apologise for any inconvenience this essential work causes and assure you that we are doing our best to minimise disruption wherever possible.
