B3212 drainage repairs
What are we doing?
We need to carry out urgent repairs to a damaged drain that runs under the B3212 to the west of Moretonhampstead, near Bughead Cross.
The work started on Monday 4 November and last for up to 2 weeks, however, please note that this work is weather dependent and therefore may be subject to change.
What traffic management will we use?
A road closure will be in place for the majority of this work. Whilst the road is closed, a signed diversion route will be in place via Moretonhampstead, A382, A30, A386, Tavistock, B3357, B3212 and vice versa.
Light vehicle access to businesses close to the closure point will be available using local roads.
A plan of the closure and diversion route can be found here.
Why are we doing this work?
The damaged drain is causing water to run over the road surface. We need to carry out this work prior to the winter to reduce the risk of ice forming. This work is essential to ensure the road is maintained in a safe condition.
Why do we have to close the road?
We must ensure the safety of our workforce and the public and in order to comply with our safety guidelines we are unable to carry out this work without a road closure.
We have carried out investigatory work under temporary traffic lights but due to the scale of the repair, it will not be possible to carry out the repair without a road closure.
We appreciate that there have been other works on this road recently and aim to keep the closure period to a minimum.
