A39 Clovelly Cross to Stitworthy Cross
Road resurfacing and drainage improvements works will take place between Clovelly Cross and Stitworthy Cross on the A39. These works will be from 10 January -18 February 2022. The work will be completed under both road closures and temporary traffic signals.
The road will be partially closed during these dates as follows;
- 10 – 21 January – Road closure – Night time for resurfacing with traffic signal day time
- 24 – 28 January – Temporary traffic signals to allow commencement of drainage works
- 31 January – 18 February – Road closure – Day time to undertake drainage works, lifted outside of working hours with traffic signals to protect works.
The narrow width of the site does not have sufficient space for vehicles to pass the plant being used to carry out the work. Therefore the use of road closures will be necessary.
We have a duty to direct traffic along a similar or higher classification of road to that being closed. This ensures that all vehicles, including large articulated vehicles, can safely navigate the diversion route.
The diversion route can be found on one.network
How local traffic is being handled
Local traffic will undoubtedly use smaller roads around the work, these are limited and likely to become congested. There will be no signing for a ‘local’ diversion due to the lack of suitable routes.
Gatesmen will be provided at the closure points and within the work site to ensure that there is no unauthorised access through the site and to assist residents within the closed section.
