The second closure will be the A39 from Heywood roundabout to Abbotsham Cross roundabout. This will remain in place for two weeks from 22 November to 21 December 2021 between the hours of 19.00 – 07.00 daily with a signed diversion route in place.
What we are doing
The junction is being remodelled to a signalised junction with new kerbing, traffic signals, street lighting, drainage and re-surfaced.
- The B3236 will be closed 24 hours a day.
- The A39 will be closed 12 hours a day during the evenings (between the hours of 19.00 and 07.00).
We have a duty to direct traffic along a similar or higher classification of road to that being closed so that all vehicles, including large articulated vehicles, can safely navigate the diversion route.
Local traffic will undoubtedly use smaller roads around the work. These are limited and likely to become congested. We will not be signing a ‘local’ diversion due to the lack of suitable routes.
Gatesmen will be provided at the A39 closure points and within the work site to ensure that there is no unauthorised access through the site.
