A383 Newton Road, Kingsteignton (Tesco Roundabout)
What are we doing?
We are carrying out carriageway resurfacing work on the nights of 14th, 15th, 16th March along the A383 at Newton Road, Kingsteignton as it has reached the end of its serviceable life. The work will be carried out in a series of night-time closures, on Saturday, Sunday and Monday night due to superstore business hours.
When will the works be carried out?
Works will be done at night, in order to minimise disruption to the travelling public and to manage the operating hours of local businesses.
Saturday 14th March – between 11pm – 6am under a Road Closure.
Sunday 15th March – between 6pm – 6am under a Road Closure
Monday 16th March – between 7pm – 6am – Straight section closure only, Roundabout will be fully opened on Monday evening.
Why do we need to close the road?
Traffic Management is needed due to the width of the road and to ensure the safety of the workforce.
Why is there such a long diversion route?
The local authority is obliged to sign diversions that use roads of the same classification to the road that is temporarily closed. Drivers may choose to use local knowledge to identify alternative, and possibly shorter routes.
How is local traffic being handled?
Where the only access to residences of the Hotel is through the road closure vehicles will be permitted escorted access from Newton Abbot end on Saturday and Sunday. They may be asked to wait a short time until it is safe to pass.
Access will always be maintained for Superstore staff only through the fuel station from the Kingsteignton end Access will be maintained for emergency vehicles. Gate persons will be stationed at Olympus business park and Pottery road junctions, to manage traffic.
