A382-383 link – phase 1
Work to provide the first part of a new link road commenced in May 2021. This section, between the A382 at Forches Cross and Howton Road at the junction with Perry Lane is the first part of a road that will eventually link the A382 and the A383.
A section of Staplehill Road and Perry Lane will be closed in July/August 2021 for a period of 4 weeks. A local diversion will be in place.
There will be further traffic management in place during the construction period which will consist of single lane closure and traffic lights.
Full details of the road closure and diversion route can be found on one.network.
Why we have to close the road
The road must be closed to through traffic to allow the existing highway to be incorporated into the new highway construction. Due to the narrow width of the roads it is not possible to do this whilst maintaining traffic flow.
We must direct traffic along a similar standard of road to that being closed so that all vehicles, including large articulated vehicles, can safely use the diversion route.
How local traffic is being handled
Access will always be maintained for emergency vehicles. Access for residents and businesses will be maintained.
More information on the scheme can be found on the A382 webpage under the heading Phase 2 – Houghton Barton Link.
