What are we doing?
Resurfacing on A3124 within the sections listed below. Only one section of road will be closed at any one time between the hours of 7pm and 7am.
Works are being undertaken to repair edge damage and restore longitudinal profile to affected sections.

Each closure will be lifted at 7.00am each Saturday and will recommence each Monday evening at 7.00pm to allow free flowing traffic over the weekends.

Why are we doing this work?
The condition of the existing road surface is such that intervention works are required. The road is to be resurfaced to restore its profile, protect the underlying road foundation from further damage and restore its skidding resistance.
Why do we have to close the road?
We must ensure the safety of our workforce and the public and in order to comply with our safety guidelines are unable to carry out this work without a road closure.
As this is a narrow section of road, we have to close the road for periods to give our workforce a safe working zone, however, we have worked hard to ensure that the closures are short time periods where possible in order to reduce the disruption to road users to the minimum.
Why is there such a long diversion route?
We have a duty to direct traffic along a similar standard of road to that being closed so that all vehicles, including large articulated vehicles, can safely use the diversion route.
How is local traffic being handled?
Full road closure with restricted access to emergency service vehicles only. A signed diversion will be in place throughout the duration of works.
What will happen to the public and school bus service?
During the working closure, any public bus routes will follow the formal diversion. The timing of the works will not impact the school bus services.
