Approximately a third of the reports we are receiving are duplicates and are already waiting to be assessed or repaired.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Where a report already exists please consider adding yourself to receive updates rather than logging a new report. This will help enable our inspection team to work as efficiently as possible during these challenging conditions.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Fixing potholes<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Once a defect has been reported, we aim to visit and triage the report within three working days on our higher-category road network, and seven days on our lower-category network.&nbsp;The triage officer will then arrange the appropriate response based on our&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.devon.gov.uk\/roads-and-transport\/document\/highway-safety-policy-vers-6-1\/\">highway safety policy<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If the pothole meets the required criteria, we will do a temporary or permanent repair. The type of repair depends on the category of the road.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you <a href=\"https:\/\/www.devon.gov.uk\/roads-and-transport\/report-a-problem\/report-a-pothole\/\">report a pothole<\/a> and we don\u2019t repair it straight away this could be because:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>the pothole was inspected and is not deemed to be a safety defect<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>there is a problem with the surface of the road which needs to be investigated as a repair will not solve the underlying problem<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>traffic management is needed to carry out repairs safely<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Visit our <a href=\"https:\/\/www.devon.gov.uk\/roads-and-transport\/help-and-support\/#:~:text=not%20my%20responsibility%3F-,Potholes,-How%20do%20I\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Help and Support page<\/a> for frequently asked questions about potholes and other highway matters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>We are currently dealing with a very high number of pothole reports.
