They help make it easier for people who live in the area to find parking near their home.  The days and hours zones operate varies from towns and areas to mitigate the challenges faced by residents in those areas.  These schemes do not guarantee you a parking space, but they prioritise availability to full-time residents.<br><br>Most on-street parking permits are now paperless (digital or virtual). This means you will not receive a parking permit in the post unless you have applied by post for a paper permit, or bought visitor scratch cards. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If you have a digital permit, we will send you a reminder by email or text 30 days before it expires. If you have a paper permit, your reminder will be sent by post. If you are applying for the first time, please also read our guidance below.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Where available you can buy a permit up to 30 days in advance of occupation day.&nbsp; However, if the existing occupiers have permits you may have to wait until move in day for permits to be available to buy. Student permits may be unavailable to buy between May and August.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The first permit issued per address will cost \u00a335, but the price for any additional permits will be linked to that vehicle\u2019s&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/vehicle-tax-rate-tables\" rel=\"noopener\">road tax band<\/a>. See the <a href=\"https:\/\/devoncc.sharepoint.com\/:b:\/s\/PublicDocs\/Highways\/EboXk6e4QEdBuzrJNMHhA7MBhHdvS8CO_-TwBjVH7sCb1w?e=vW3qcQ\" rel=\"noopener\">full list of our permit prices<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Motorcycle owners who park in resident permit spaces also need to&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/secure.mipermit.com\/devon\/Application\/ProductForeword.aspx?PermitType=RESZONAL\" rel=\"noopener\">buy a residents\u2019 motorcycle parking permit<\/a>. These cost \u00a335 and are in addition to your addresses permit  allocation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If you have already registered for an account, log in to buy a permit or manage permits for your address. Select the home page when MiPermit opens and buy another permit or type via your account.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If you have not already registered at your address with MiPermit you can do so, as you buy your 1st permit. Scroll down to First-time applicants for more information.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Managing your MiPermit Parking Permit Account: <\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Renewing an existing permit<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If you already have a digital permit on your MiPermit account, you\u2019ll receive a reminder by email or text at least <strong>30 days before it expires<\/strong>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Quick renewal<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If your details and vehicle registration haven\u2019t changed, you can renew easily:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Log in to your MiPermit account<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Select <strong>Manage Digital Permits<\/strong> (left-hand menu) Click on the red circle.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Click on your current permit<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Select <strong>Renew Permit<\/strong> and follow the on-screen steps<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Most permits can be renewed <strong>without uploading documents<\/strong>, as long as you renew <strong>before the expiry date<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">When documents are needed<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You\u2019ll need to provide proof during renewing for:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Business permits<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Essential visitor permits<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Visitor permits<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This is to ensure the eligibility criteria is still being met.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">If your details have changed<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Before renewing:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Update your personal details or vehicle registration &#8211; whichever has changed.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Go to <strong>Manage Digital Permits<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Select your permit and edit the details<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Then proceed with renewal. Read the information below before clicking above to start your application via the MiPermit Devon portal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What You\u2019ll Need to Provide<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">1. Proof of Address<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Provide one of the following:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Council Tax bill (current period, preferred)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Utility bill (dated within the last 3\u20136 months)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Tenancy agreement (only pages showing names, address, dates, and signatures)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Solicitor\u2019s letter confirming property purchase<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Photo Driver&#8217;s licence (if address shown)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">2. Proof of Vehicle<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Provide one of the following:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>V5C (log book) front page<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Insurance certificate<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Lease or hire agreement<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If using a company vehicle: a letter from your employer confirming use at home address<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Your document must show:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Vehicle registration number<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Your name and address<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Your supporting proofs can be submitted in one of the following file types: <strong>JPEG, PNG or PDF<\/strong>. You will only be asked for proof of eligibility when you first create your account for a resident permit your property address.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Choosing the Right Permit<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If you see a message saying <strong>\u201cno permits of this type available\u201d<\/strong>: This may mean 1 or more of the permits are in use already.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Go to the top of the page<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Change the permit type (e.g. from <strong>1st permit<\/strong> to <strong>2nd or additional permit<\/strong>)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If in any doubt contact the permit team before submitting an application.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Before You Submit<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Double-check your <strong>address selection<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Make sure your <strong>vehicle registration is correct<\/strong> (watch for letter \u201cO\u201d vs number \u201c0\u201d)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Council is not responsible for incorrect details entered and mistakes may result in Penalty Charge Notices being issued.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">After You Apply<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Applications are usually processed within <strong>48 hours<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>You <strong>cannot park in resident-only spaces<\/strong> until your permit is approved. <strong>You do not have a valid permit until your application is approved.<\/strong> <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>You\u2019ll be notified by <strong>email or text<\/strong> once approved<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Payments<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>You\u2019ll receive a <strong>receipt at the time of application<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Your payment will show as <strong>pending<\/strong> in your bank account <strong>but <\/strong>won\u2019t be taken until we approve your application.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">If your application is rejected:<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Your payment will not be taken by Council<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Pending funds may take up to <strong>10 working days (or longer)<\/strong> to return<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Contact your <strong>bank<\/strong> first if the funds are delayed<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Watch the short video below for more information about using the MiPermit system.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe title=\"MiPermit - resident permit: How it works and how to apply\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube-nocookie.com\/embed\/K7Vk4kgfwBw?feature=oembed&#038;rel=0\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Residents\u2019 parking zones are used in areas where parking spaces are limited and demand is high.
